Conditions of use of the “Khalkoff” e-bikes :
- The minimum age to ride all kinds of e-bikes is 14 years.
- Between 14 and 16 years, youths need a category M (moped) driver’s licence. Over 16 years of age such a licence is no longer needed for e-bikes up to a speed of 25 km/h.
- E-bikes with a pedalling-support of more than 25 km/h are considered to be “mopeds”, therefore a category M licence is requested for everyone over 14 years of age (or standard car driver’s licence).
- E-bike riders are requested only to ride on paths suitable for e-bikes.
- The slow e-bikes (up to 25 km/h) are allowed to ride on roads and paths that are forbidden to mopeds. The faster bikes have to use these stretches without engine support.
- In roundabouts, bikers have the right either to ride on the right side or in the middle of the lane (or in the middle of the right lane in multiple-lane roundabouts).
- The wearing of bicycle helmets (EN 1078) is only mandatory for all faster e-bikes (25 km/h or more).
- Only well-secured child seats and bicycle trailers are permitted for all e-bike types.
